hello there.

Holiday Party 2009

Come to our Annual Holiday Party on Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 at Nashville Opera, 6-8 pm. Bring a dish and good spirit to share with your neighbors and us at SHNA steering committee. We will also celebrate one of our well-loved neighbors 75th birthday and their dedication to environmental activism. We hear there will be some delicious cupcakes. See ya there!

Getting Social

Let's get social! It seems that almost everyone lives online these days. Social networking web sites are growing by the numbers and we think it's a great way to stay informed and in touch. We've got two different Google groups set up for email distribution lists that have worked well so far. If you'd like to join either the General announcement list or the more specific Crime Watch list please click on the links below. We've also setup a Facebook presence. Join our group now!

Letter from President

I hope you had a great holiday in spite of the all airport delays and good economic news, and that youre glad to be home. The Sylvan Heights steering committee wishes you a very happy new year and would like to use this fresh start to the year to invite you to get involved in your neighborhood most easily by coming to our meetings or contacting us via the Web site www.sylvanheights.org. Keep in mind that the Web site is a great source of information for residents, and were working to further increase its functionality in the near future. So check back often!

New Leadership

Sept 20th, 2008 – Svetlana Stepanovic, our newest shna president, has taken over the reigns and already is making a big difference. We also have Erin O'Brien and Jonathan Gilligan on board for the Steering Committee. These folks are kicking butt and taking names. Jonathan has stepped up to re-format the Neighborhood Watch group to better utilize the tools provided by the Metro Police dept and to also implement block captains. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know. Thanks!

New Design, About Time

May 1st, 2008 – Hey everyone. I have stopped the procrastination and finally updated our website's content and design. I can't begin to tell you how much it was in need of a refresh. There's still a few pages to be re-done and most likely content that needs correction. So, if you see anything at all that doesn't quite look right, or doesn't function, out of date... please do not hesitate to let me know. Thanks!

ReDesigning Charlotte Ave / Richland Park Area

The Charlotte Ave/Richland Park Corridor will soon undergo a Detailed Corridor Design Plan process. The Detailed Corridor Design Plan process will create a plan for future growth and development outlining appropriate land use and urban design that complements and enhances the character of the corridor.

The success of the plan depends, in part, on the participation of all community members including residents, property owners, business owners and institutional representatives. We hope youll be able to participate in a series of community meetings.

Let Us Say Hello

giftLoads of new people have moved into our neighborhood within the past year and we need help in extending a friendly welcome. Please let us know of a new neighbor so we may give a warm welcome gift. The only way we know of a new resident is if YOU tell us! Sending out the welcome wagon takes no effort, yet makes a great impression upon the new neighbors.
Send info here.

And Like A Good Neighbor

Have you been blessed with a kind neighbor who has enriched your life by doing a selfless act of kindness? SHNA will award them with a token of appreciation. Chuck Cardona's homemade banana bread is rumored to be a delicious reward! MMmmm, yum! To show your appreciation for one's kindness, just tell us the name and address, we'll do the rest!
Send a treat their way.
